When reporting is manual, it is also fragile. A missed data entry can go unnoticed until the report is due, and there is often no clean record of exactly what was submitted for a given period if a question comes up later.

How we approach it

Our reporting layer includes native scheduled reports and alerts, so a dashboard or report can be generated and emailed out automatically on a set schedule, without a manual export step. Alerts can also be configured to trigger if a metric crosses a threshold, so issues surface as they happen rather than at the next scheduled review.

Underneath the reporting layer, our data management tool keeps a built in activity log recording who created or changed each record and when. This gives you a genuine, ready made audit trail you can point to if a board, funder or regulator asks how a figure was arrived at, without needing to build custom logging from scratch.

Where a report depends on data from more than one system, our workflow automation tool can check on a schedule whether expected data has actually arrived, and send a notification to the right person if something is missing or overdue, rather than that gap only being noticed once a report is due.
